Thesis supervisor: Katalin Kamarás
Location of studies (in Hungarian): MTA Wigner FK SZFI Kísérleti Szilárdtestfizikai Osztály
Abbreviation of location of studies: MTA

Description of the research topic:

The purpose of the project is the encapsulation of organic molecules into various nanotubes (e.g. carbon and boron nitride), facilitating chemical reactions between the molecules and following the reactions with multiple spectroscopic methods. Encapsulation can happen by sublimation or extraction from supercritical fluids, the latter will be performed in the Extraction Research Group of the Department of Chemical and Environmental Process Engineering. The reactions to be observed are polymerization and polycondensation. Spectroscopic equipment (UV/Vis, infrared, Raman, photoluminescence) is available in the Advanced Structural Laboratory of the Wigner Research Centre for Physics. Further collaboration, mainly in electron microscopy, is conducted in collaboration with the Department of Chemistry, University of Nottingham, UK. The successful candidate has a solid background in physical chemistry, interest in physics, and active English knowledge.
