Description of the research topic:
Software fault localization techniques help programmers find the root causes of defects based on the observed behaviour of the test cases exposing the effects of the fault.
Current approaches mostly involve the so-called program spectrum information which captures the behaviour of the test cases with respect to the program elements.
However, recent results show that not much improvement can be expected by varying existing techniques, and that additional information is required for more significant improvements.
This additional information provides the context of the investigated program elements which might be, among others, data or control flow information, or user feedback.
The goal of the research topic is to systematically investigate existing contextual solutions for the software fault localization problem and develop new approaches.
