Description of the research topic:

Polarized epithelial cells, covering the surface of the physiological interfaces, play a pivotal role in the control of transport processes across these barriers. A key feature for accomplishing this task is the proper and asymmetric localization of the participating components: transporter proteins, cytoskeletal elements, signaling molecules, etc. Our study aims to elucidate the cross talk between various signaling pathways involved in the complex process of cell polarization. We primarily focus on liver cells and the LKB1 kinase, which has special role in cell polarization.
