Description of the research topic:
Feline idiopathic cystitis (FIC) is a lower urinary tract dysfunction including variable combinations of mostly chronic symptoms. The background and the pathomechanism of the illness is planned to be studied by establishing a primary urinary bladder epithelial cell culture model. The individual and combined effects of bacterial, hormonal, neural, immunological or toxic factors could be well examined in the established cell culture system. Further, our aim is to test the action of certain molecules possibly ameliorating the above mentioned effects.
