Description of the research topic:
During the investigation we will increase the intraspecific diversity of many perspective wild-growing chamomile populations with different breeding methods (individual and mass selection, self-fertilization, polyploidization), and after the evaluation of produced new strains and lines we will select the best plant materials. The raw material development will focus on the high essential oil content, the special essential oil composition, high phenolic content and antioxidant capacity primarily, but the morphological and production properties will be considered as well. The experiment will be set in under open-field conditions while analysis of active compounds will be carried out in the laboratory of the department.
