Description of the research topic:

Phenology is the science dealing with periodic biological phenomena that are correlated with environmental, and mainly climatic, conditions. It could have a great practical importance because our food supply basically depends on the timing of phenological events. Besides that, changes in the timing of phenological events can be used an as indicator of changing meteorological elements, as phenology may be altered by changes in temperature and precipitation. So we can state that changes in phenological events are among the most sensitive biological responses to climate change. However, not all species are changing at the same rate or direction. All of these facts justify why it is promising to study the climatic variability and climate change on the base of phenological data series of agricultural crops.
