Description of the research topic:
Although we are 25 years after the political changes of Central Europe, the special patterns and relations created by the transformation in the society and therefore in the space produced in these societies allows us to speak about the post-socialist city as a unique type of settlement, a particular quality among the globalised urban spaces. Researches in post-socialist urbanisation mainly focus on the major (capital) cities of the region, and there is hardly any attention in this context on the special issues of small and medium sized cities and towns. Applicants to this topic could conduct their own researches on the questions of various types of small and medium sized cities’ spaces, how changing relations of society reproduce the spaces of living, recreation, public meetings, green areas etc., and how these types of spaces are getting integrated into the system of the post-socialist city.
