Description of the research topic:
a) Background:
For designing a car seat pad, it is necessary to know the distribution of human body weight on the seat. This information is one of the most important features of the seat. The human spine has so-called physiological curvatures. They provide the spine function and the possibility of painless movement. In a sitting position, these physiologically required curvatures usually disappear, and the person seats in a constrained position that causes neck, waist and headaches for a shorter period of time.
b) Goal of research:
The goal is to determine the ideal shape of the car seat and the size of the back support supporting the top of the pelvic bone and the waist - in line with the backbone of the spine - to reduce the load on the spine and achive the right position. Furthermore, examine the effect of different materials and different curves of the surface of the backrest.
c) Main tasks of research:
Design and realize measurement setup to obtain the pressure in different point of the seat.
Realise a mechanical model of the human body sitting on the seat
Simulation
Validation of model
Comparative analysis of standard seat with with the backrest-corrected seat
d) Minimum expected scientific results:
• articles in refereed international journal with SCI index,
• articles in international conference proceedings.
Required language skills: Fluent English Further requirements: Basic knowledge from other language (different from mothertangue)
Proper knowledge of mechanics, material science
