Description of the research topic:

In recent years, the use of diagnostic imaging of the brain has expanded dramatically. As a result, the number of the incidental findings found in the brain significantly increased as well. These unexpected findings (pineal cysts, pituitary abnormalities, arachnoid cysts, porencephal cysts, corpus callosum anomalies, cavum septum pellucidum, megacisterna magna, etc.) can generate uncertainty and can lead to further unnecessary diagnostic processes. Paediatric neurologists have to be familiar with the importance of the incidental findings found in the children’s brain. The first aim of our research is to determine the prevalence of incidental findings in different paediatric populations, in children with headache, with epilepsy, with mental retardation. 2/ to classify the incidental findings according to the subpopulations, 3/to establish how to deal with the detected incidental findings in clinical practice.
