Description of the research topic:

The conventional technology of the medical and herbal plants is drying the plants continued by extraction with alcohol – water as solvent, producing relatively low active component extract. The last step of the technology is solvent recovery by distillation, in which part of the heat sensitive active components are anulled. To avoid this losses, the alcoholic extract of the active components can be concentrated by using membrane filtration folowed by membrane or osmotic distillation. In the frame of this research work production of different type of medicine and herbal plants (sage, whitethorn) concentrate and/or powder will be carried out including mathematical modeling and optimization of the processes.
