Description of the research topic:

Wolfberry (Lycii fructus) is part of the (Lycium) family from which some of the fruits are edible. It has been used as medicine in ancient China for cardiovascular deseases and high blood pressure reduction as well as for immunity improvement. Beside of high vitamin C content the 21 minerals and 18 amino acids are also important components. Novadays it can be used as dried fruits and fruit juice or concentrate of the juice. The quality, economy and valuable component content can be increased and improved by using multistep membrane processes in combination with conventional extraction. The aim of this research work is development of new product(s) as concentrate and/or granulate, using membrane separation processes (osmotic distillation – OD, membrane distillation – MD) saving the active componets amount during processing.
