Description of the research topic:
Theory/theories of Information Society, how to define information society and information economy. The spatial processes in information society, spatial influence of emerging IS. The development of research questions inside IS, increasing new research fields. The different meanings of ’space’ in IS and its effect on changing definition of space in Social Geography (virtual spaces, hybrid space). How to describe basic definitions, connections and flow sin IS?
The convergence among difference sectors in Information Economy, network of flows, spatial inequalities in accessibility. Topology and useage (intensity) of IT networks, competing technologies, new platforms of communication and data flow. The content and users of networks. Spatial and social differences in usage. The effect of sectoral and regional policies on improving the diffusion of IS. Classification of IT-realted sectors, specificities of different areas. The importance of IT-related sectors in economy (turnover, added value, employment) and its regional characteristics.
