A kommunikációnak van olyan felfogása, miszerint az társas cselekvés a nyelv és a nem-verbális viselkedés útján. Ez a megközelítés kutatási témák tág körét engedi, az interperszonális jelenségektől a csoportok közi kapcsolatokon keresztül a médiakommunikációig.
