Description of the research topic:

Inspired by the positivist aesthetics movement, neuroaesthetics is aimed at investigating the neural implementation of aesthetics-related decision processes. This research aim does not necessarily refer to the biological underpinnings of the subjective aesthetic preferences but rather it does concern the extended biological and cognitive network beyond the common and shareable experiences with aesthetics. Of the many influential factors on aesthetics, this PhD project is proposed to explore how our aesthetic experiences are modulated by pictorial properties denoting dynamic spatial changes and the passage of time. The research is not directed to explanation of art pieces, but it focuses on artificially made objects with systematically changeable visual properties. The research method is data-based and empirical.
