Description of the research topic:

Selective progesterone receptor modulators (SPRMs) represent a new class of synthetic steroids, which can exert agonist, antagonist, or mixed effects on various progesterone target tissues in vivo. The clinical potential of these molecules is very extensive (contraception, medical termination of early pregnancy, uterine myoma, endometriosis, steroid receptor-containing tumours). Our aim is the discovery of steroid and non-steroid SPRMs by in silico methods (virtual screening, fragment-based drug design). The pharmacological properties of new compounds will be investigated by in vitro and in vivo methods.
