Description of the research topic:
Distributional Semantics is a research program based on large-scale quantitative investigations that rely on first-order and second-order co-occurrence facts collected about words from corpora. Suggested research topics include automatic lexical acquisition, studies of compositionality, simulating human word and sentence similarity judgements and last, but not least, theoretical investigations of various forms of the distributional hypothesis in the general context of semantics. The successful candidate has a research plan based on existing literature of distributional semantics and is able to handle the theoretical and computational aspects of the task.
