Description of the research topic:

The research can either concentrate solely on English phenomena or investigate English and Hungarian comparatively. The proposed framework is generative grammar (two salient models: Lexical-Functional Grammar and the Minimalist Program). The fundamental issue to be addressed is how the binding theory components of recent generative linguistic models can capture anaphoric relationships. In the case of LFG, implementational issues may receive special attention.
