Cognitive Telemanipulation

TÉMAKIÍRÁS

Intézmény: Budapesti Műszaki és Gazdaságtudományi Egyetem
gépészeti tudományok
Pattantyús-Ábrahám Géza Gépészeti Tudományok Doktori Iskola

témavezető: Korondi Péter
helyszín (magyar oldal): Department of Mechatronics, Optics and Mechanical Engineering Informatics
helyszín rövidítés: MOGI

A kutatási téma leírása:

a.) Antedecents: A long-standing, intensive collaboration is established between the MOMEI Department and the professors of Tokio University in this research area. In June of 2001 a shared laboratory, Intelligent Integrated Systems was opened that is connected to the research topic of this PhD program.

b.) Aim of research: The development of a telemanipulation device in which the human brain has the main role in the connection between the human and the master device instead of the hands. This approach is a new communication based on cognitive processes, in which the different perceptions are received in new or unusual modularities, similarly to how visually impaired people can perceive stimuli that is generally considered as visual, by hearing or touching with their hands.

c.) Tasks, main items, necessary time: 1st year: Study of cognitive sciences for familiarization with non conventional communicational channels. The exploration of new sensor and feedback technologies. 2nd year: The development of devices necessary for communication. The testing of different perception generating devices. 3rd year: Final establisment of experimental system, conducting experiments, discussion of results, the verification and validation of the project.

d.) Required equipment: Computers, sensors (cameras, tactile sensors) are available with the adequate software support.

e.) Expected scientific results: New cognitive methods in human-machine communication; the automatic visual presentation of robotised space with intelligent functions towards the operator, based on iSpace concepts; an efficient and safe connection with the work process for people with disabilities.
