A kutatási téma leírása:

Cultures are prevalent in our societies all over the world that play a significant role in shaping how we feel, the patterns in which we think, and it also influences our acting. On a global scale, cultures differ from nation to nation and even from region to region. Communicating across cultures is a challenging task as each culture has their own sets of written and unwritten rules.

The challenge for multinational communication is getting even greater and greater with the expansion of worldwide business organizations, increased globalization, but also because workforce is growing more and more diverse, both ethnically and culturally. Business practices are shaped by cultural attitudes toward work, power, trust, wealth—and communication. Communication is fundamental in business because business is a collaborative activity.

Culture, both in its verbal and non-verbal form, has immediate and enormous impacts on business communication. Disregarding or neglecting the importance of culture in business communication can result in problems and lead to communication disruptions. By contrast, understanding cultures can help organisations anticipate potential challenges, minefields or barriers which they can overcome with success if certain rules and assumptions are kept and observed.

Over the last twenty-thirty years social media and networking have gained popularity and interest among the young, middle aged and elderly. It can be declared, however with caution, that it is the young who are connected to the social media the most. The careful examination of this issue is looking for an answer to the issues of why we use social media, how important users find self-presentation, networking and information seeking in the social media, how fun it is for them, and what dangers, such as fake news, they need to be aware of.
