A kutatási téma leírása:

Today, innovation policies are mostly rooted in the “systems of innovation” thinking and can be considered as growth-oriented economic policies. When it comes to sustainability, the dominant approach is mostly the “greening” of innovation systems: supposedly, by furthering “green innovations”, economic growth (corporate profitability) and sustainability can both be achieved.
Ecological economics is highly critical towards these views. When analysing the relation between technology and (environmental and social) sustainability, it builds on a multidisciplinary set of knowledge, e.g.: critical technology philosophy, science and technology studies, actor-network theory, multi-level perspective of systemic transition. It emphasises concepts such as (the drawbacks of) technological fix, problem shifting, rebound effect, the non-neutrality of technology, appropriate and convivial technology, (critically reflected approaches towards) social innovation or responsible research and innovation.
The present thesis topic proposal is open for students who aim to study the relation between technological change and sustainability (also embracing social justice) from an ecological economic point of view.

Keywords: transformative innovation policy, systemic transformation, democratization of technology, social innovation, responsible research and innovation
