A kutatási téma leírása:

In the recent years, the concept of anti-access/area-denial zone (A2/AD) has become one of the important theories of strategic deterrence, regardless of whether this concept appeared in ancient times, in the Greco-Persian wars. There are many conditions for the strategic containment of the enemy, among which the battlefield defence of potential operational areas and complex control with weapon systems were important in all eras. However, the omnipotence of "impenetrable bubbles” - as shown by the example of the Russian-Ukrainian war - raises questions, the problem of territory denial (A2/AD) is not the same as displaying the ranges of weapon systems on a map. The battlefield defense of critical areas (exploitation of the features of the terrain, technical fortification system, long-range weapon systems, "iron dome" air defense, etc.) greatly influences freedom of maneuver of attacking adversary, limits its activities, and exerts counter-effects on the attacker's military capabilities. The globally multi-domain and hybrid environment requires a novel approach on the part of the Hungarian Defence Forces as well, recognizing the new requirements and assessing their effects is of national interest and can play a key role in the defense of Hungary. The research primarily focuses on the A2/AD issues of NATO's Eastern strategic direction, but in order to draw general conclusions, it researches similar strategic withholding solutions in other regions (e.g. Taiwan). However, the main goal is to be able to identify, on the basis of international security trends, the questions whose answers are of critical importance for the Ministry of Defense/MoD from the point of view of defense administration, modernization of the armed forces and "battlefield preparation".
The doctoral research topic is part of the MoD’s 2022-2023 research proposals (MoD Defense Innovation and Capability Development Department, topic 17; HDF Force Development and Transformation Command, topic 116)
