A kutatási téma leírása:

Background:

The revolution in information, computer, navigation, and communication technologies catalyzed the development of highly automated systems in operators’ environments. While technology has helped drive improvements in the transport industry, automation has also increased significantly and is going to advance at an increasing rate. These investigations have been introduced to countless technological and system innovations in operators' working environments. Therefore, the level of automation, transport systems, and the operators' working conditions are continuously changing and being redesigned. Besides the advantages of highly autonomous systems, there is a need to find out emerging human factors issues that would be generated by situation awareness, decision-making, fatigue, stress, psycho-physiological condition, unbalanced operator loads, and incapacitation.

Goal and Main Tasks of Research:

A risk assessment of “Transport Operators” will be carried out to identify the health and safety risks arising out of or in connection with the workload, high level of automation, mental status, stress level, fatigue, etc., for the performance measurement.

• Create a total load measuring system and concept for transport operators,
• Assessment of safety issues by using a set of measuring devices such as Qardio Core ECG Device, TOBII Eye-Tracker, etc., which measures heart rate, respiratory rate, skin temperature, heart rate variability, activity tracking, eye movement, fixation duration etc.,
• Implementation of “Virtual Reality” (VR) in measuring the vital health signs of operators under the simulated scenarios. The “VarjoAero” virtual reality headset is planning to be used,
• Conducting safety performance measurements in simulators (computer-based and full motion simulators) and in real environments such as decision-making time, reaction time, situation awareness, visual attention, etc.,
• Developing pre and post-questionaries for the measurements mentioned above, as well as conducting and analyzing the general surveys,
• Application of Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) in safety risk assessments,
• Validation and Verification of the created concept by comparing the obtained results from the simulators, real environments, pre-post questionaries, and Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) outcomes,
• Present research results at high-level national/international conferences and publish research outcomes in international SCI-indexed journals with impact factors.
