A kutatási téma leírása:
The aim of the study is to review retrospectively the database of patients of the Department of Neurology, University of Pécs who underwent temporal lobe epilepsy surgery, and to record the clinical data of patients undergoing surgery in a prospective manner.During the evaluation of clinical data, especially regarding with seizure reduction and cognitive changes after surgery. Tissue samples removed during surgery will be (re-)evaluated, especially for the extent and nature of hippocampal damage.We are developing a scoring system to quantify the level of damage.Detailed immunohistochemical and in situ hybridization techniques are used to examine which cell groups are damaged and to what extent, and then the neuropathological data will be correlated with the clinical data.
