A kutatási téma leírása:
White water lilies can occur in a given water body under different water and sediment chemistry and hydrological conditions, but in all cases, the main determinants are plant inorganic nutrients and flow conditions. Changes in flow, such as boat and ship traffic, or changes in the physical, chemical, and biological composition of sediment and water, can cause their populations to decline or disappear from the area. However, the specific factors that cause or allow white water lilies to decline are not currently known.
The aim of the PhD thesis is to identify the main abiotic and biotic environmental factors that affect plant populations and their effects on the populations that will emerge in the coming years. The monitoring will focus on the practical adaptation of state-of-the-art image analysis techniques and the monitoring of population changes.
