Internationally, emergency departments care for the whole population in acute care. In Hungary, the single gate entry is achieved only in larger centres, but due to traditions and the yet unknown system, the Y-branching is still very frequent. Patients are categorized as trauma or non-trauma patients after the single gate entry, the former group cared by the trauma surgeons, while the latter by the emergency physicians. The aim of this study is to identify those cornerstones where the triad of traumatologist-emergency physician-radiologist can cooperate on the most optimal and effective way, to explore those strengths and weaknesses that originate from the trauma (limb surgical) approach, and set those standards required for safe patient care. It is also a target to optimize the utilization of laboratory and imaging (point-of-care and traditional) methods affected by the interdiscplinarity and changing roles. Long term goal of the study is the analysis of the new system, pinpointing hardships and potential benefits and to optimize the operation of the system.
