A kutatási téma leírása:

Modern life has brought about more travel, more leisure time, and more engagement in out-of-home, non-work activities. Modern life, especially in more recent years, has also witnessed rapid population and economic growth in many urban areas and the decentralization of residential, commercial, and workplaces. The increasing migration from the countryside to the cities due to working conditions is one of the reasons for increased urbanization in major cities and the increase in the demand for transportation . The booming economy fostered the well-being and shaped it. Accompanying these changes has been the Relaxation of some constraints, such as the need to commute at fixed hours, thus providing more degrees of freedom of travel. Because of the significantly increased alternative activities and travel patterns from which households can now choose, travel patterns have become more complicated. In addition, many of the transport-related externalities such as accidents, congestion, pollution, inequity, etc exsist. The importance of sustainability is understood in the current urban transport scenario leading to the development and promotion of sustainable transport policies. The core agenda of these policies is to target the travel behavior of people and change the way they travel by creating a different travel environment.
So The main aim of behavioral analysis is to develop the capability of predicting the individual responses due to changes in their travel environments. Activity-based travel demand analysis is the one that focuses on various patterns of travel behavior and considers travel for carrying out the activities that are distributed in time and space. All the travel decisions are based on activity type; hence understanding the activity behaviour is essential for perceiving the travel behavior. Some of the researchers put their efforts to understand the activity travel behavior and developement or are in the process of developing full-pledged activity-based travel demand models.
Aims and objectives:
The main aim of this study is to evaluate the existing and future sustainable indicators for travel demand in the city center of Al-Amarah (south of iraq). Whereas, the objectives is to develop Statistic models for providing suitable routes and transportation modes to reach the CBD area, taking into consideration the possible continuous development of public transportation and its impact on the environment and sustainability and to reduce dependence on private census data transportation by creating a new concepts for transportation through targeting the behaviors and habits of individuals in travel and making them suitable for development and sustainability.

Significance of the Research:
Developing models that simulate the continuous change in population growth and its relationship to public transportation, its continuous development, creating a new environment for transportation in the city centers, and changing the population’s convictions regarding the importance of adopting modern public transportation, which saves time for access and also reduces costs and environmental impacts.
Methodology:
Step one: Collect information related to the population and the household according to census data and in addition to land use of the city center. Step two: Determine the study area using cordon line and screen lines and determine count station for traffic, pedestrian, pollution, noise, accident, and parking areas spreading in the study area.
Step three: Prepare suitable data forms for all related surveys such as household, parking survey, etc.
Step four: Analyze the collected data using suitable programs such as GIS and TransCAD.
Step five: Suggest suitable relationship and develop models to find the suitable sustainable indictors.
Step Six: Suggest the required improvents to enhance the future plan for the city center.
