The research topic covers the protection of the rights and interests of future generations at national and international level. In his report titled „Intergenerational solidarity and the needs of future generations”, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon established that the concept of intergenerational solidarity is embedded in the idea of sustainable development, and is a universal value of humanity. UN SG Ban Ki-Moon also introduced eight national institutions and bodies that play a pioneering role in the national implementation of sustainable development and intergenerational solidarity. Within the broad framework of this research topic, researchers could focus on either the theoretical or the practical (case-law based) approach of the rights and interests of future generations. Interdisciplinary (e.g. law and politics) research approaches are also welcome.
