helyszín (magyar oldal): Department of Polymer Engineering
helyszín rövidítés: PT

A kutatási téma leírása:

a.) Antecedents: Many projects are focusing onto the development of lightweight solutions for injection molded composite parts. The most promising technology is Thermoplastic-Resin Transfer Molding (T-RTM). To fulfill the EU requirements regarding end-of-life product management, efficient and reliable routes must be developed for mechanical recycling of this in-situ produced thermoplastic fiber-reinforced hybrid composites.
b.) Aim of research: The aim of the research is to develop methods to recycle of these polymers, composites and hybrid composites from the T-RTM process.
c.) Tasks, main items, necessary time:
• Literature review in the field of T-RTM and its materials. The main focus of the literature review is to define the most modern research results in the area of thermoplastics recycling. (approx. 12 month)
• In the first stage, we will focus on the rheological investigation of recyclates. We will test various types of additives that can improve the moldability of recycled PA-6. The final target is to define the best approaches for the mechanical recycling of reactive PA-6 based hybrid composites. We will investigate the influence of different process parameters on the recyclates performance during in-situ injection molding, overmolding and 3D printing. (approx. 20 month)
• We will develop methods to homogenize recyclates with additives and to define fiber length based on in-house developed optical measurement systems and novel numerical analyses. (approx. 16 month)
d.) Required equipment: The necessary equipment is available at the laboratory of the Department; besides some test devices are to be developed and built as a part of the research.
e.) Expected scientific results: The final target of the research is to define the best approaches for the mechanical recycling of reactive PA-6 based hybrid composites.
