Herbicide resistance is an increasing problem worldwide. Herbicide resistance is classified as
target site when a point mutation in the target gene conveys resistance, or metabolic when
different complex mechanisms make able the plant inactivate the active molecule of the
herbicide. In the present program, we will analyze the molecular genetic background of
herbicide resistance in different, agronomically significant weeds. Transcriptome analyses
and whole-genome sequencings will be used to explore expressional differences as well as
changes in gene structure. Molecular techniques will be developed for easy and reliable
detection of identified mutations and the usefulness of these techniques for monitoring will be
tested under real conditions.
