A kutatási téma leírása:
The application of secondary plant metabolites in medication is particularly important in several countries. The antibiotic-resistance denotes a significant problem in health care. Several publications have been demonstrated that essential oils possess antimicrobial effect but the mode of action has not been fully understood. The discovering of these mechanisms may provide valuable data for development of new pharmaceutical formulas. The main aims of this PhD topic: isolation of essential oils from different plant sources, analysis of chemical composition of essential oil samples by GC-FID and GC-MS techniques, investigation of antimicrobial activity of essential oils (e.g. inhibition of biofilm production, anti-quorum sensing activity). The results may offer new data for the development of antibacterial and antifungal products containing natural products, e.g. essential oils.
