Software engineering problems such as software testing, software project scheduling and software maintenance are difficult to handle in case of complex software systems. Computational intelligence approaches can be used as decision-support tools in such cases.
Software engineers often face problems when an optimal (or quasi optimal) solution has to be chosen from a wide range of options. For example: What is the lowest number of test cases that ensure a required coverage? How can be found the balance between software development costs and satisfying all the customer demands? Finding the trade-off between actual development costs and future maintenance costs , etc. SBSE focuses on supporting software engineering processes by formulating software engineering problems as optimization problems, and then using optimization algorithms to solve them.
Through this project, we aim to develop new techniques that can be easily and efficiently applied in practice in case of complex software projects. The research will investigate several multi-objective optimization techniques.
