A kutatási téma leírása:
Monitoring wetland ecosystems, let it be natural or artificial, is essential for securing their optimal conditions. Remote sensing is a proven tool that provides a broad scale of different qualitative and quantitative data (e.g., water and vegetation cover, evapotranspiration, wetness of soils), useful for environmental managers. The proposed research aims at developing a method, that describes and analyses the eco-hydrological system of wetlands at a regional level (basins, watersheds, riparian areas) using in situ data, satellite images and eco-hydrological models. Successful completion of the research needs solid background in eco-hydrology and knowledge about (optical and microwave) Earth observation techniques. An innovative combination of archive data, new Earth Observation technology and present-day data analysis and modelling techniques (e.g., cloud-based solutions) is required.
