General methodology for assessing the content of artificial radionuclides in livestock products produced in contaminated areas

A kutatási téma leírása:

To produce products of acceptable quality at the contaminated territory the agricultural works should be conducted according to scientifically grounded recommendations. For this purpose the knowledge of dynamics in radionuclides content in products, character of radionuclides distribution in tissues and organs of farm animals should be obtained. The analysis of the worldwide literature, related to the project subject, shows the wide variation range of all the parameters of radionuclides transfer from soil or forage into farm animal products. It is commonly known that the transfer of artificial radionuclides into cattle breeding products can depend on multiple factors, i.e., level and character of pasture lands contamination, type and composition of forage, species, age and productivity of animals, management technology and etc.
Therefore, the main aim of the project is to obtain quantitative data on parameters of radionuclides transfer into cattle breeding products and based on the results obtained, to provide recommendations for cattle breeding activities under conditions of radioactive contamination to produce products of guaranteed quality. Obtained parameters of radionuclides accumulation in animal products will be used for calculating doses for population, inhabiting the contaminated territories.

Task of the candidates:
An evaluation is needed of different measurements to supplement direct radionuclide measurements on samples in the laboratory.
To investigate the dynamics of the transition and distribution of radionuclides in the organs and tissues of farm animals; determine the parameters of the transfer of radionuclides from various sources to the organs and tissues of farm animals of various types.
Assess the possibility of livestock activities on the contaminated sites.
