The social and educational function, the differences in student composition and in educational performance of public and private schools is a topical field in educational research. As Bertola and Checchi (2013) suspected the church-run or religiously oriented schools can play a very different role in different educational systems depending on the public sector and the historical roots of religious communities. The doctoral thesis could focus on the comparison of the actors and the process of privatization, the social background and the educational quality, the motives of school choice, the rites in socialization as well as the hidden curriculum of the faith based school sector in a Latin American educational system compared to the Hungarian one.
