A kutatási téma leírása:

The interest in renewable energy sources (RESs) has significantly grown in the last years due to rapid increasing in energy demand and the target to reduce the environmental pollution. There are many forms of RESs, such as wind energy conversion system (WECS), photovoltaic (PV), hydroelectric energy, biomass, geothermal power, hydrogen and fuel cells. WECS and PV technologies are of the most common sources of RESs nowadays.
Many barriers must be addressed with WECS and PV technologies. Wind turbines are complex machines, with large flexible structures working under turbulent and unpredictable environmental conditions, and are connected to a continuously varying voltages, frequency and power flow of the grid. Wind turbines must adapt to these variations, so their efficiency and reliability depend heavily on the control strategy applied. As wind energy penetration in the grid increases, additional challenges are being revealed, such as response to grid disturbances, active power control and frequency regulation, reactive power control and voltage regulation, restoration of grid services after power outages. Another abundant, sustainable source of energy is the sun. One of the greatest scientific and technological opportunities we face is developing efficient ways to collect, convert, store, and utilize solar energy but daily and seasonal effects and limited predictability result in intermittent generation.
Moreover, the intermittent energy generations from these sources, because of weather changes cause a negative impact on power system operation. So, the uncertainty and intermittency of wind and solar generation are major complications that must be solved before the full potential of these renewables can be reached. Energy storage systems (ESSs) based on advanced control and optimization technique have a significant role to solve these problems in the power system. The aim of this research proposal is to improve the power system stability by reduce the side effects resulting from changing weather factors that affect the energy from WECS and PV technologies. The focus is to study and analyze the impacts of WECS and PV energies with and without ESS on the stability and operation electrical power systems using an advanced control. The proposal also focuses on improving the control of RESs and ESS to minimize the frequency and voltage fluctuations of the power systems.
