A kutatási téma leírása:

Sustainable, modern viticulture requires an objective and continuous monitoring of several key parameters for a differentiated agronomic management of vineyards based on spatio-temporal variability of growth, canopy characteristics, yield, and grape composition within the vineyard. The differential management within a viticultural plot and the option of being spatially variable are covered by a discipline known as precision viticulture. The new concept allows the grape-grower the optimization of yield quantity and quality and also the profitability by reduction of those inputs as machinery, manpower, nutrients, chemicals, water, energy, etc. It contributes to diminishing environmental impact of pesticides, nutrients leaching, fossil fuels.
Remote sensing is a tools that is capable to help in vine growing, specially, in studying the within-field variability of a vineyard to assess spatial and temporal changes in soil moisture, canopy growth, plant water status. Remote sensing can be carried out from several platforms, such as satellites, aircrafts, and remotely piloted aerial systems as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV). There have been many different indices described in the scientific literature lately obtained by remote sensing of different plantations and crops (i.e. DVI, GI, MSAVI, NDVI NDGI, NDRE, OSAVI, RGRI, RDVI, SR).
The aim of the planned PhD research is to select the most appropriate indices from the above mentioned ones to obtain the necessary information for grape growers to apply precision viticulture in their vineyards. Multispectral remote sensing for obtaining georeferenced digital maps will be carried out in different wine regions of Hungary.
