The research programme focuses on the development of tools for the structural identification, assessment and strengthening of the load bearing elements of historic structures, such as buildings and bridges. Up-to-date experimental and modelling techniques will be worked out and applied. Special attention will be given to the use of non-destructive testing methods for condition analysis and repair solutions that enable the extension of the the service life of historic structures.
