A kutatási téma leírása:
There is a long lasting tradition in political science which draws a sharp dividing line between government parties and opposition parties on the ground that while governing parties particularly have to focus on responsibility the opposition parties are irresponsible per se as they are not made accountable for their decisions (Sartori, 1966; Mair 1997). Accordingly, opposition parties just have to represent, and respond to their audiences’ demands. This assumed duality has been increasingly under challenge with the growing presence of populist parties in governments. Thus it is a pertinent question how opposition parties’ behaviour is transformed as a result both nationally and internationally. Can they develop new patterns of responsibility or are they deemed to lose in this game?
