Requirements for the applicant:
- Ability to use and making 3D models in a CAD program
- Mechanical Design/ Mechanical Engineering MSc
- Knowledge and usage of a programming language (eg. FORTRAN, C++)
Description of the working programme:
- Historical overview of optimization algorithms, detailed study of 2-3 algorithms which are usable for design optimization (DO) or multidisciplinary design optimization(MDO).
- Kuhn- Tucker optimality criterium, grapho- analytical method for optimization.
- Overview of suspension systems used in cars nowadays in the automobile market.
- Selection of an existing suspension structure, building the 3D model of it in a CAD- system.
- With consultation aid, finite element analysis of the 3D model.
- Using several techniques of the optimization for different elements of the suspension structure, (Kuhn- Tucker grapho- analytical method, Shape- optimization), creating the optimum design for minimum weight of the suspension structure, fulfilling the requirements during the operation, taking into account extreme loading situations (potholes, velocity limiting elements on the roads, curves, etc.).
