A kutatási téma leírása:
The concept of Industry 4.0 has been announced and a new way of industrial process has started to be shaped with its associated technologies such as cyber-physical systems, Internet of Things, big data analytics, and smart factories. The current studies related to Industry 4.0 mostly focus on its implementations in manufacturing process. The aim, the expectation is to combine all previously mentioned technologies and obtain a system with high-level communication and information sharing, which would finally lead to a small number of errors in the system, perhaps zero.
Yet, a manufacturing process alone cannot change the course of the entire business flow without the supply chain management and sustainability. Industry 4.0 and its associated technologies, apart from the progress in production, have the potential to give a valuable boost in the key factors of supply chain such as supplier selection, transportation, distribution, warehousing, and customer service. Due to this boost there will also be effects on the supply chain sustainability.
The aim of the research is to analyse the impact of the Industry 4.0 on the supply chain sustainability and identify possible challenges by considering economic, social and environmental aspects. The food industry is supposed to be the research field with the following research questions: What are the impacts of Industry 4.0 development on the sustainability of a food supply chain? Assesement of potential challenges to maintain a sustainable food supply chain with the help of Industry 4.0 development?
