Our aim is to reveal the challenges and the factors that can possibly or definitely effect the implementation of lean principles to a supply chain. For the industry, we chose the automotive industry which is known to have solid developments in this matter and is in our proximity. Turkey currently has six operating global car manufacturers, two of them being Japanese car manufacturers, and one of them is the Toyota company itself. In this study, our purpose is to get direct information through survey method to shed light on the implementation of lean principles to a supply chain. By doing so, we intend to find answers to following questions “What are the difficulties and challenges of adapting the lean principles into a supply chain?”, “What are the key factors and elements to be considered while developing a lean supply chain?”, “What are effects of challenges and factors for the supply chain lean implementation phase?”.
