The scheduled research involves Mössbauer studies of various iron chalates in frozen solutions. These compounds (e.g., iron complexes of EDTA, CDTA, EDDA) have both biological and environmental relevance. However, their Mössbauer study is hindered by the strong concentration and local structure dependence of the paramagnetic spin relaxation creating great challange to the experimentalist when evaluating the spectra (non-Lorentzian curves). The main goal of the research is to explore how the rate oif this relaxation depends on the choice of the chelating agent, pH of the solution and the concentration of the iron species. This is a precondition for the correct identification of iron species in the solution.
