A kutatási téma leírása:

Nowadays, the noise is one of the most significant pollutants which have a negative effect on the environment. It is the reason that many investigation are done in noise elimination and reduction. One of the most appropriate systems is with noise absorbers which are put on the walls of the building. Unfortunately, the level of noise reduction depends on the thickness of absorbers made of conventional materials. For high level of noise reduction very thick isolators are necessary whose dimensions and weight are significant. Due to these properties they are not suitable for practical application. It is the reason that unconventional materials for noise reduction are developed. The materials are usually of composite type and have quite unusual behavior. The so called ‘acoustic metamaterials’ are equivalent to ‘electric metamaterials’. Namely, their main property is that the amplitude in resonant case has to be minimal. To reach this aim it is suggested to form mass-in-mass-spring elementary units where the added mass-spring system eliminates vibration of the basic mass at the certain frequency. Connecting these units in suitable way we obtain the material which eliminates the acoustic oscillations in the body. The connection between units seems to produce an effective ‘negative mass’. Of course, it is the consequence of calculation procedure, but not of the real properties of the system.
The aim of this course is to give an introduction to the theory of acoustic metamaterial which is based on the theory of vibration. Using the condition of resonance for mass-in-mass unit, the properties of the acoustic metamaterial for which the vibration is eliminated are discussed. For the already produced metamaterials their advantage and disadvantage in comparison to conventional acoustic materials have to be studied. Some practical application of the metamaterial would be considered.
This program would be adjusted with the COST action CA15125 entitled: Designs for Noise Reducing Materials and Structures (DENORMS).
