A kutatási téma leírása:
Numerous studies concentrate on the modeling the effect of climate change at global and regional scales, however because of urban climate phenomena the climate parameters are differs appreciably in case of cities in local scale. Therefore it is crucial to downscale the global and regional climate predictions into urban areas in order to evaluate the local scale effects and expected changes. The specific aim of this research is to apply existing modelling and GIS techniques in this downscaling process in the example of different style of urban areas from different areas of the world. Based on the experiences of this process the second aim is to develop new methods for downscaling and forecast. Finally review and refine the general climate change mitigation strategies for urban areas based on the result of this study. For the success of this research the applicant have to be experienced in the following fields: data processing of global and regional climate model outputs, GIS techniques, working in Linux environment (supercomputers) and programing (e.g. Python, Fortran, Shell).
