The rhythmic "entrainment" effect has been identified as an important factor underlying the relationship between musical and linguistic ability. Entrainment is the process by which movement, musical production or brain processes become synchronised to the rhythm or internal pulse of the music (or language). The ability to entrain is assumed to develop during music learning, and this has a generally positive effect on motor and control processes, as well as on the temporal processing of information (auditory, speech, etc.). The aim of this topic is to explore further evidence for the relationship between musical and linguistic rhythm by investigating behavioural and brain processes.
