The internationalisation of higher education generates new dimensions in LSP research: from English as a foreign language (EFL) to English as a medium of instruction (EMI) and its implication on teaching ESP, content and methods in ESP teaching – with particular reference to the present higher education context, the role of teacher background (linguistic vs. specialist knowledge), the changing role of subject teachers, changing needs / motivation of teachers, students and market players (future employers).
