The Improvised Explosive Device (IED) is one of the most common weapons of asymmetric warfare. The IED is mostly made of materials and agents used in everyday life. Today, terrorist blasting is a daily routine event. Effective defense against blasting, even more the prevention and preparing to these kinds of events are all of us interest. Troops and establishments of Hungarian Defense Forces may become featured targets of blasts. Effective and successful defense may be reached only with appropriate measures and modern technical background. The topic has not inquired completely in a PhD thesis yet. Two theses partially refer to the topic, but they primarily deal with protection of buildings against terrorist blasting.
Objectives:
Analysis the background and methods of blasting events.
Exposure analysis of troops of Hungarian Defense Forces on abroad.
Measures and technical devices may be used for defense against blasting, mainly regard to modernity, development and novel requirements.
Shaping proposals for initiation and application of new measures and equipment and also for improvements in the middle term and long term.
Research methods
Studying the printed and electronic special literature, regulations.
Consultations with experts of the topic.
Systemizing experiences gained earlier.
Analysis of documents, drawing the conclusions.
Shaping proposals, publishing the results.
