Thesis supervisor: Lászlóné Hajós

Description of the research topic:

Grain yield in cereals is defined by the number of grains per unit land area and by the individual weight of these grains.Grain yield is closely related to the number of grains that reach maturity, and kernel weight is considered a more stable trait. Final kernel weight depends ont he relationship between kernel sink capacity and the availability of assimilates to fill this sink. The aim of invesitigations to study physiological processes that influence sink size, and optimal sink:source ratio in maize.
