Description of the research topic:
Research on the two most important and well-known works made by Piri Reisz, the world map of 1513 and the map collection published in the form of a book entitled Kitáb-i Bahrije. The main characteristic of the research is that, for the first time, the descriptions and geographic names written in Ottoman-Turkish language, which are important for cartography, will be directly translated from Ottoman-Turkish into Hungarian, as well as a detailed cartographic analysis is planned using modern research methods.
