Thesis topic proposal

Effect of specialized metabolites on the assembly of in-plant microbial communities

THESIS TOPIC PROPOSAL

Institute: University of Debrecen
biology
Pál Juhász-Nagy Doctoral School of Biology and Environmental Sciences

Thesis supervisor: Sándor Gonda
Location of studies (in Hungarian): Élettudományi Központ
Abbreviation of location of studies: ÉTK

Description of the research topic:

During the research, chemically variable model plants are colonized by synthetic or natural fungal communities. With these models, the following hypotheses are examined among others: (1) the successful asymptomatic colonization of the members of synthetic communities depends on the sensitivity towards the plant antifungals and (2) in plants with different chemistry, endophytic microbiome is a function of specialized metabolite levels. The research is conducted using generic plant and microbiological techniques as well as modern chemical and bioinformatic analyses.

Place of research: University of Debrecen, Faculty of Science and Technology, Department of Botany

Number of students who can be accepted: 2

Deadline for application: 2024-05-15
